Leaves are trifoliately compound, alternate, triangular, and tardily deciduous.  Twigs are green-yellow with spines.  Bark is red-brown with lenticels. Flowers are bright red-pink.  Fruit is a legume with red seeds. Coralbean is a shrub or small tree found near salt water in southern Florida.
