Leaves are simple, alternate, evergreen, oblong, and with prominent, silvery scales above and below and on the petiole.  Twigs are silvery-brown and scaly.  Flowers are in yellow terminal clusters.   Fruit is a capsule.  Alabama  croton is a rare shrub in Alabama.
