bulletsparkleberry  Vaccinium arboreum  Ericaceae

Leaves are simple, alternate, tardily deciduous, oval to elliptical in shape, 1/2-2 inches long, shiny, dark green, and with irregular red teeth on the margin.  Twigs are red and scaly. Bark is red-brown and shreddy. Flowers are white and bell-shaped. Fruit is a round black berry. Sparkleberry is a shrub to small tree found on a variety of sites in the southeastern US.  Intermediate shade tolerance.
