bulletinkberry  Ilex glabra   Aquifoliaceae

Leaves are simple, alternate, evergreen, smooth, leathery, elliptical, up to 2 inches long, and with pubescent petioles and thickened, slightly toothed, leaf margins. Twigs are light gray and pubescent with lenticels. Bark is gray-brown.  Fruit is a black drupe.  Inkberry is a shrub found in wet coastal forests of the southeastern U.S.  The fruit is eaten by birds and small mammals.
