Deer with cover over eyes The management of white-tailed deer is big business in the southeast. Many landowners have elected to high-fence their land in order to better manage their deer herd. Our research focuses on the population dynamics and genetic health of a large scale high fence operation. Specifically, we are examining how harvest regimes affect the population structure and genetic characteristics in a closed population of white-tailed deer.
