|
Angela is studying white-tailed deer fawn survival at Fort Rucker, Alabama. She will be estimating age and sex specific survival rates, as well as determining causes of mortality and rates of predation. In order to accurately estimate these rates, she will be radio collaring fawns within hours of birth. To aid in capture of fawns soon after birth, does will be captured in spring and fitted with radio collars and vaginal implant transmitters (VITs). Fawns will be monitored for survival for up to six months; those that do not survive will be examined to determine cause of death.
